PETALING JAYA:
Former Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil says he has received a warning from TikTok that his account could be banned for violating the platform’s community guidelines.

In a Facebook post, Isham alleged that certain pro-government groups had been making complaints about his TikTok content. “They can’t handle it and are upset. My posts contain no slander, only facts and analysis. If they were defamatory, I would have been arrested long ago.

“The truth is, they have no answers to my criticisms and can’t stand hearing it. Now, they want TikTok to ban me,” he said.

Isham, whose account has more than 615,000 followers, said he hoped TikTok would not succumb to government pressures.

Isham also shared screenshots of the warning from TikTok, including the videos flagged for allegedly breaching community guidelines.

The videos covered topics such as a proposed EPF monthly pension payout scheme, a civil suit against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim by former research assistant Yusoff Rawther and a purported purchase of 80 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus.

According to the screenshots, TikTok said Isham may appeal the ban warning or complete policy training provided by the platform to have the warning removed.

Isham also sought advice on whether he could sue anyone who is later revealed to have caused the TikTok action against his account.
