PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a woman who rushed onto the main stage during the Perak state-level National Day celebration this morning and ran towards Sultan Nazrin Shah.

Perak police chief Noor Hisam Nordin said the woman had entered from the side of the stage at about 8.20am and approached the sultan before she was restrained by security personnel.

“The suspect, a 41-year-old woman, was detained at the scene and taken to the police station for further action,” he said in a statement.

A preliminary check revealed that she has a police record related to drug cases.

“Further examination also confirmed that she has a history of receiving psychiatric treatment and is currently under specialist supervision. A urine screening test conducted on her returned negative,” Noor Hisam said.

He said the case is being investigated for attempting to cause grievous hurt.

Noor Hisam urged the public to respect official state ceremonies and refrain from any actions that may disrupt public order or threaten safety.
