Tang Jie-Ee Wei overcame world No 8 pair Delphine Delrue-Thom Gicquel in 51 minutes in the semi-final at the Adidas Arena with a score of 21-18, 21-16 despite the strong home ground support for the French pair.
In the final tomorrow, the Malaysians will take on China’s world No 2 pair Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin.
Tang Jie-Ee Wei have now beaten the French pair four times in their six encounters so far.
Their performance at this World Championships has exceeded their showing in the last one in 2023, when they crashed out in the quarter-finals.
This is the first final this season for Tang Jie-Ee Wei who fell at the semi-final stage in five tournaments. Their last title was the Korea Open held in September 2024.
Their performance is a welcome relief for BAM as the duo have struggled to find their best form with obvious on-court differences leading to them splitting temporarily in March before reuniting a month later.
