PETALING JAYA:
A clothing seller was fined RM14,000 by the Sepang sessions court today for making and initiating the transmission of obscene videos, having served two months’ imprisonment last year for offences related to prostitution.

Berita Harian reported that Siti Amiza Baharuddin today pleaded guilty before judge Ahmad Fuad Othman to committing the offence on her @MizaNegro Twitter account in 2022, before its rebranding to X in 2023.

Amiza was charged with committing the offence at 10.13pm on Dec 18, 2022.

The video was sighted at 10.08am and 4.34pm on May 19, 2023 at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

The charge was under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities, punishable under Section 233(3) of the same Act.

It provides for a fine of up to RM50,000, up to a year’s imprisonment or both, and an additional fine of RM1,000 for every day the offence continues after conviction.

The prosecution was managed by MCMC deputy public prosecutor Fadhli Ab Wahab, while Amiza was represented by lawyer Ahmad Hafiz A Bakar.

Hafiz requested for a reduced fine, saying his client has a nine-month-old baby, has admitted to the offence and has promised not to repeat it.

Last year, Amiza was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment by the Bandar Baru Bangi sessions court for solicitation via Telegram under the name “Miza Ozawa”.
