Johari said he had instructed the Parliament’s audio and video units to hand over all relevant recordings of the alleged incident.
“If there is evidence that such behaviour occurred and there was an attempt to carry out a physical attack, I will take firm action,” he said during proceedings this morning.
“You can speak freely… I do not even mute your microphone. But when you try to be physical, I think you have crossed the red line.”
Johari was responding to Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka), who had sought a ruling on safety in the chambers, saying the confrontation had been widely shared online.
“We are now discussing ways to curb bullying in Malaysia, but here in the House, Pendang wants to quarrel with others,” he said.
The commotion erupted during the debate on the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), which has seen multiple heated exchanges of late, including a walkout by opposition MPs.
Abdul Hadi Awang (PN-Marang) implied in his debate on the 13MP that Kuala Lumpur’s problems were due to DAP and the unity government.
After a heated exchange between government backbenchers and DAP MPs, opposition MPs staged a walkout.
Several videos which later went viral showed Awang making gestures in an apparent challenge to others to a “fight” outside the Dewan Rakyat.
