State deputy education, innovation and talent development minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said the initiative will only be applicable to students who further their studies at the four state government-owned universities, Bernama reported.
This will involve 64 courses at these universities.
The universities are Universiti Teknologi Sarawak, Curtin Universiti Malaysia, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, and I-Cats University College.
Annuar said Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg had never promised free tertiary education in any previous election.
“However, it will still be done out of care and in the educational interests of Sarawak’s youths,” he said during an outreach programme in Sibu today.
