PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) said a TikTok video featuring a man resembling its director-general, Shuhaily Zain, is fake.

The agency said the 18-second clip, uploaded by one “Hermano Kedutaan”, was either generated with artificial intelligence (AI) or deepfake technology.

It said the video is aimed at smearing Shuhaily’s image and reputation, and misleading the public.

“The public is advised not to be influenced by such content and to remain cautious when gathering information online,” it said in a statement.

The agency also urged the public not to share the said video, saying it was an offence under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

The video appears to show a man resembling Shuhaily promoting “Hermono” as a service provider for individuals facing issues related to passports and other official documents.
