Kuala Terengganu magistrate Yuhanis Roslan approved the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s request to remand the suspects until Aug 2, Berita Harian reported.
A source from MACC said the suspects – two men and a woman in their 40s and 50s – were arrested at 2.30pm yesterday while giving their statements at the Terengganu MACC office.
“They are believed to have received bribes totalling about RM25,000 through separate bank transfers into their personal accounts, involving 14 different projects.
“Preliminary investigations suggest the three suspects were involved in the alleged offences between 2015 and 2019,” the source said.
Terengganu MACC director Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
The arrests follow the detention of a director of a state government agency in January for allegedly soliciting and accepting a RM900,000 bribe to help a consultancy firm secure a project and approve its development plans.
