Malaysia’s world No 4 mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei marched into the quarter-finals of the China Open after a convincing win over a Chinese pair today.

The world No 4 pair beat the much lower-ranked Gao Jia Xuan-Wu Meng Ying 22-20, 21-7 in a 31-minute match.

It was their second win over the Chinese pair in as many encounters.

A tougher challenge awaits in the quarter-finals where they will meet China’s world No 9 pair Guo Xin Wa-Chen Fang Hui.

The China Open is a lucrative World Tour Super 1000 event which offers a total cash prize of US$2 million (RM8.4 million).
