State police chief Khairi Khairuddin said the amount was a sharp increase from RM1.32 million during the same period in 2024, Bernama reported.
He said a total of 7,832 arrests were made over the period under various provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, including Sections 39B, 39A (2) and 15(1)(a).
“Among the drugs seized were shabu, heroin, yaba pills, ketum leaves, cough syrup, ketum water, ganja, Erimin 5 pills and ecstasy pills,” he was quoted as saying at a press conference after an event at the Terengganu police headquarters to dispose of items in narcotics cases.
Khairi also said police were monitoring individuals suspected of using legitimate businesses, particularly in cosmetics, as a cover for drug-related activities.
He said only one such entrepreneur in Terengganu, a man known as “Man Hidung”, had been arrested and charged in court.
“Don’t assume the police aren’t aware. We know, and we are monitoring individuals who pose as cosmetics or beauty product sellers to distribute drugs. They will be caught,” he said.
