GOF seizes cannabis flowers worth RM690,000 in Padang Besar

The drugs weighing 23kg were found in a sack at the Malaysia-Thailand border area after reviewing CCTV footage.

PETALING JAYA:
The General Operations Force seized 23kg of cannabis flowers believed to have been smuggled into the country at the Malaysia-Thailand border area in Padang Besar early this morning.

GOF North Brigade commander Shahrum Hashim said the seizure, worth about RM690,000, was made by a team after reviewing CCTV footage.

He said the cannabis flowers were found in a sack and handed over to the Padang Besar police headquarters’ narcotics crime investigation department.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking.

Shahrum said the GOF 18th Battalion’s intelligence branch is identifying those engaged in smuggling drugs around Padang Besar.
