
JOHOR BAHRU: A 14-year-old boy was killed after being crushed by a falling oil palm tree while resting on a bridge in Pontian.
District police chief Shofee Tayib said the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
He said initial investigations revealed that the boy had accompanied a friend who was carrying out drainage work and was resting on a nearby bridge when he was crushed by the falling tree in Parit Katik, Sanglang.
No foul play is suspected and the case has been classified as one of sudden death.
