PETALING JAYA:
Two men on a motorcycle were injured in an accident involving four vehicles on the Sungai Besi Expressway yesterday evening.

Police said the driver of a car was using the Waze app on his mobile phone while driving on the right lane when he lost control of the vehicle, hit the divider, and crashed into the rear of another car in the middle lane.

“The airbags were deployed due to the impact, obscuring his (the first car driver’s) vision. His car then veered to the left and hit a motorcycle and a second car,” said Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Zamzuri Isa in a statement.

He said the motorcycle rider and pillion rider, both 32, were admitted to Serdang Hospital where they are in a stable condition.

The case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving, which provides for up to five years’ imprisonment and a fine from RM5,000 to RM15,000, upon conviction.
