In a statement, MCMC said it received the amount from Hulu Langat Bersatu information chief Shafiq Abdul Halim today.
“MCMC views seriously the misuse of digital platforms to spread content containing racial elements and religious extremism, or content that touches on national institutions.
“We remind social media users to always be ethical, courteous, and responsible when uploading or sharing content online,” it said.
Shafiq was slapped with the RM10,000 compound for posting offensive and extreme content involving racial and religious sentiments related to the Kuala Lumpur Tower dispute on TikTok on March 31.
The Bersatu man denied the accusations and said he was receiving legal advice on the matter.
