KUALA LUMPUR:
A two-year-old girl has died from suspected abuse, with bruises, swelling, and cuts found on her body.

Sungai Buloh police chief Hafiz Nor said the child was brought to Sungai Buloh Hospital unconscious by her adoptive parents, aged 27 and 28, on Thursday.

“Examinations revealed bruises, swelling, and injuries across her body, along with dried blood around her mouth and nose,” he said.

Police arrested the couple following a report by a medical officer at the hospital.

Hafiz said initial checks found both suspects had no criminal record and that a remand application will be filed at the Shah Alam court today.

He added that a post-mortem would be carried out at the Sungai Buloh Hospital’s forensic unit.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for child abuse.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the Saujana Utama police station at 03-6038 3322 or investigating officer Aizad Azik at 013-486 1194.
