2 killed, 16 injured after tour bus collides with lorries in Ayer Hitam

The drivers of both lorries involved in the crash escaped unhurt.

PETALING JAYA:
Two Indonesian men were killed and 16 others injured after a tour bus collided with two lorries on the North-South Expressway near Ayer Hitam, Johor, after midnight.

Ayer Hitam fire and rescue station chief Shamin Salikin said the department received a distress call at 12.44am and dispatched a team of seven firefighters to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found that three vehicles were involved: a tour bus with 46 people on board, including the driver, a tanker lorry, and a tow truck.

“There were two bus passengers trapped and pronounced dead at the scene, while 16 others, including the bus driver, were injured,” Bernama quoted him as saying in a statement.

“The remaining 28 passengers were unharmed. The injured were sent to the hospital by ambulance.”

According to Berita Harian, the tow truck driver, 42, and the tanker lorry driver, 33, escaped without injuries.
