Kosmo reported that the 44-year-old plantation labourer pleaded guilty after all the charges against him were read before judge Sayani Nor.
He was sentenced to 21 years’ imprisonment and six strokes of the rotan for the first to third charges of sexual assault against his younger daughter, who is now 16 years old.
The man committed the offences against her since she was five years old at their home in Batu Pahat, Johor, both in the day and at night between 2014 and 2022.
He was charged under Sections 14(a) and (d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792).
Under the fourth to 14th charges, he was accused of raping, sodomising and sexually assaulting his eldest daughter, who is now 17 years old, at various locations, including a shed in an oil palm plantation and a storeroom between 2014 and May 2025.
The charges were under Sections 376(3) and 377C of the Penal Code for rape and carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent, as well as Section 14(d) of Act 792.
The sentences for these charges totalled up to 103 years’ imprisonment and 86 strokes of the rotan.
However, the court ruled that the sentences for Section 376(3) of the Penal Code and Sections 14(a) and (d) of Act 792 be served concurrently, with an additional sentence under Section 16 of Act 792 to be served immediately after the first.
Based on the facts of the case, the man’s wife was called to the girls’ school to discuss their dropping grades in a meeting.
During the meeting, the two girls told their mother and teacher that their father had raped, sodomised and assaulted them since they were five and six years old, respectively.
The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Othman Affan Ismail, while the accused was unrepresented.
The court also ordered the accused to undergo two years of police monitoring after serving his sentence.
