PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested five people, including four company directors, on suspicion of submitting documents with false information to obtain foreign worker permits.

Bernama quoted a source as saying four men and a woman, aged 20 to 60, were arrested between 3pm and 6pm yesterday while giving statements at the Selangor MACC office.

“Initial investigations found that all the suspects submitted application documents with false details to the Selangor immigration department under the Manpower Recalibration Programme 2.0.

“All the suspects are believed to have committed these acts around 2023 to 2024 through their respective companies,” said the source.

The suspects were remanded for four days from today after MACC’s application was approved by magistrate Redza Azhar Rezali at the Shah Alam magistrates’ court.

One of the company directors is a Bangladeshi national.

Selangor MACC director Hairuzam Mohmad Amin confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 for false claims.

However, he said three other individuals who were also arrested in connection with the case yesterday were released on bail of RM10,000 each, with two sureties, for health reasons.
