Sarawak premier’s wife Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang dies

Final respects will be held at Masjid Jamek before she is laid to rest at the Semariang Muslim Cemetery in Petra Jaya.

Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, the wife of Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg, passed away at a private medical centre in Kuching at 3.34am today. She was 76.

News of her death was conveyed by deputy minister in the Sarawak premier’s department Abdullah Saidol, Bernama reported.

Abdullah said that final respects would be held at Masjid Jamek from 10am to noon before she is laid to rest at the Semariang Muslim Cemetery in Petra Jaya.

Juma’ani was the daughter of the second Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tuanku Bujang Tuanku Othman.

She is survived by a son, Abang Abdillah Izzarim, 45, and a daughter, Dayang Norjihan, 43.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, expressed sadness over Juma’ani’s passing early this morning in a condolence message on social media.

“Our thoughts are with the late Puan Sri’s family, especially with Abang Jo, whom I had just met yesterday. May you remain patient and strong in facing this test.\

“Our family offers prayers that Allah forgives all her sins and grants her a special place by His side,” he said in the posting.
