Berita Harian reported that magistrate Lee Kim Keat allowed the police’s application today to remand the 33-year-old in an investigation under Sections 302 and 435 of the Penal Code for murder and mischief by fire.

In the Monday evening incident, the man allegedly slashed his 34-year-old wife, who worked as a clerk, to death in a residential area in Bukit Gambir.

He then fled to his in-laws’ house in Kampung Durian Chondong where he set several vehicles on fire.

The New Straits Times reported that he walked into the Bukit Gambir police station at around 7am yesterday and told the cops he had slashed his wife and committed arson.

According to the report, police found the woman’s body lying under a blanket with neck injuries and a blood-stained knife in the living room.

The man, who was arrested at his home, tested negative for drugs.
