PETALING JAYA:
Top seeds Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie were knocked out of the Singapore Open mixed doubles quarter-finals after losing to Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran.

The world No 5 Malaysian pair lost 19-21, 22-20, 17-21 to the eighth-ranked Thai duo in a match that lasted 64 minutes.

At one game apiece, the younger Thai pair then pressured the husband-and-wife pair into a series of unforced errors in the rubber game.

Soon Huat-Shevon have now lost four of their six encounters with Dechapol-Supissara. Their most recent win came at the Badminton Asia Championships in China last month.

The Malaysian pair are still chasing their first title of the year.
