Family remanded after allegedly stealing from supermarket in Muar

PETALING JAYA:
A family of four has been remanded for allegedly stealing items from a supermarket that were loaded into a trolley.

One of the suspects, who works at the supermarket, is believed to have pretended to scan the items at the checkout counter, Harian Metro reported.

The incident came to light after the supermarket in Muar found no records or receipts of payment in the system despite the family leaving with a trolley full of goods.

The alleged thefts occurred on May 14, 24, and 25, resulting in losses of about RM3,000, according to the daily.

The remand order was issued by the magistrates’ court and involves a man aged 43, his 52-year-old sister and her son, 33, and daughter, 27.

The family will be remanded until Friday.

The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.
