Federal Court promotion for Lee Swee Seng, 2 others join appeals court

A source says that Lee, together with High Court judges Hayatul Akmal Abdul Aziz and Lim Hock Leng, are expected to receive their appointment letters today.

Senior Court of Appeal judge Lee Swee Seng, will be elevated to the Federal Court, according to a source.

The source also said High Court judges Hayatul Akmal Abdul Aziz and Lim Hock Leng will also be promoted to the Court of Appeal.

Lee, a former lawyer, was appointed judicial commissioner in 2010 and confirmed as a High Court judge in 2014. He was elevated to the Court of Appeal in 2019.

Hayatul, currently serving at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur, was appointed judicial commissioner in 2015 and elevated as a judge in 2019.

Lim, who is based in Tawau, Sabah, was made judicial commissioner in 2018 and elevated as a judge in 2020.

The three are expected to receive their appointment letters from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, at Istana Negara today.

Lee is then expected to take his oath of office this afternoon before Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya.

Hayatul and Lim will take their oaths before Court of Appeal president Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim.
