PETALING JAYA:
PKR is unable to confirm if deputy president Rafizi Ramli will be officiating the party’s upcoming Youth and Wanita congress.

PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh gave a brief response when asked about the matter.

“I cannot confirm yet,” she told FMT.

MalaysiaGazette yesterday reported that Rafizi does not want to officiate the PKR Youth and Wanita congress amid growing support for Nurul Izzah Anwar, his rival for the PKR deputy president’s post at the central leadership council election.

According to a high-ranking party insider, Rafizi sent a letter to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim informing him of his decision not to accept an invitation to officiate the two meetings.

The Youth and Wanita wings’ congress is traditionally opened by the deputy president of the party.

FMT has reached out to an aide to Rafizi for comment.

The Youth and Wanita wings will have their congress on May 22, with the opening ceremonies held the night before.

On May 23, the party will hold its central leadership election and opening ceremony for the national congress on May 24.
