Gerakan Kuasa Rakyat Malaysia (G57) chairman Zulkarnain Mahdar said there was a need for police to investigate these parties immediately to prevent Sabahans from being duped by such lies.
“Take appropriate action as these individuals continue to spread lies.
“And these people (who are being accused of spreading lies), can sue me so I can reveal everything in court,” he told reporters after lodging a police report against the purported whistleblower here this morning.
Zulkarnain also denied claims by certain quarters that the alleged mining scandal was a “little 1MDB”, in reference to the scandal which has been dubbed the largest kleptocracy ever.
“This is a baseless accusation which gives Malaysians the wrong perception.”
Last year, an alleged mining scandal was reported after a series of videos linking several Sabah assemblymen were leaked.
In February, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the initial batch of videos on the alleged scandal could not be relied on by its investigators as they had been heavily edited and, therefore, lacked credibility.
MACC had also completed its probe into the purported whistleblower and the former CEO of a company linked to the case, with the investigation papers submitted to the deputy public prosecutor.
