PETALING JAYA:
A daycare worker pleaded not guilty at the Kluang sessions court to abusing a five-month-old baby at a childcare centre last month.

Amirah Hajirah Mohd Farid, 20, entered her plea after the charge was read before judge Osman Affendi Mohd Shalleh, Kosmo reported.

She was accused of exposing the five-month-old child to a situation likely to cause physical injury between 8.30pm on April 8 and 7am on April 9 at a daycare centre at the quarters of Hospital Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Kluang.

The change was framed under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a fine of up to RM50,000, up to 20 years’ imprisonment, or both, upon conviction.

The court allowed bail of RM8,000 and ordered Amirah to report to the nearest police station on the first of every month. She was also instructed not to disturb any of the prosecution witnesses.

The court fixed June 13 for case mention and the submission of documents.
