Manivanan praised his team for being grounded in facts, and choosing not to respond to pressure with dirty tactics or personal attacks.
“We stuck to the facts and campaigned with dignity to fight with honour and win with respect.
“In the face of pressure and provocation, they (the team) stood firm on principles, refusing to take the easy way out by resorting to malicious strategies, personal attacks, dirty tactics, slander or extreme provocation,” he said.
Manivanan, who is also the political secretary to party president Anwar Ibrahim and a member of PKR’s central leadership, said this shows the struggle for reform is still alive within the party.
Four PKR divisions held fresh elections yesterday after the party’s leadership elections this year saw several mishaps, with complaints of irregularities.
The divisions were Jempol, Selayang, Silam and Pasir Salak.
The Jempol division re-election was called after the previous winner, Azizah Salim Shah, was found to be a Pejuang member.
Manivanan received 571 votes in the re-election, beating his rivals Asri Abdullah and K Mariappan, who received 229 and 39 votes, respectively.
