The Bera MP arrived at 2.52pm as the anti-graft agency continued questioning him as a suspect in an investigation into four of his former senior officers, Bernama reported.
He was seen leaving the MACC headquarters at 6.55pm after giving his statement for nearly four hours.
According to sources, the recording of Ismail’s statement has concluded for the time being; however, it could not be confirmed whether further sessions will be conducted, the report said.
It is understood that the investigation is related to the expenditure and procurement of funds for promotional and publicity activities, under the Keluarga Malaysia initiative, during his tenure as prime minister from August 2021 to November 2022.
Ismail declared his assets to MACC on Feb 10 and was first questioned on Feb 19. He was also called in for questioning on March 13, 14, 17, 19, 20 and 24, and April 24 for around six hours each day.
He could not attend two previously scheduled sessions on March 5 and 7 after he collapsed at home on Feb 22 and was taken to hospital for blood pressure-related problems.
MACC is investigating the discovery of about RM170 million in cash and 16kg of gold bars worth millions of ringgit, seized in raids at the residences of the four officers and three other premises believed to be “safe houses”.
