April 28 a public holiday in Johor after JDT reach Malaysia Cup final

Menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi says the decision to declare the public holiday was made in line with the wishes of Johor’s regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

PETALING JAYA:
The Johor government has declared April 28 (a Monday) a public holiday to celebrate Johor Darul Ta’zim’s (JDT) success in reaching the Malaysia Cup final.

Menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the decision was made in line with the wishes of Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the Regent of Johor.

“Congratulations to JDT for advancing to the 2024-2025 Malaysia Cup final against Sri Pahang this Saturday,” Onn Hafiz posted on the Brotherhood Johor Facebook page.

He also expressed his gratitude to Tunku Ismail for his vision and extraordinary efforts in transforming JDT into a top-tier football club, respected not only in Malaysia but across Asia.

With four Malaysia Cup titles already under their belt in 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2023 , JDT are now eyeing a fifth title.

“Let’s fill the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in support of our Southern Tigers,” Onn Hafiz said.

He also called on fans to gather at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on Sunday night for a grand celebration.
