PETALING JAYA:
Pahang PKR chief Rizal Jamin failed to defend his post as Lipis division chief yesterday, losing to his sole challenger by nearly 100 votes.

Rizal, an appointed Pahang assemblyman, garnered 421 votes while his rival Hasim Mansor received 516 votes, making him the next Lipis PKR chief.

Rizal was appointed as the Pahang PKR chief in October, taking over the post from Fuziah Salleh who was promoted to party secretary-general.

In Kuantan, state executive councillor Sim Chon Siang failed to wrest the division chairmanship from incumbent Fakhrul Anuar Zulkawi, a Kuantan city councillor.

Sim, the three-term Teruntum assemblyman, managed to get 575 votes, but was still far behind Fakhrul’s 659 votes.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary Ahmad Farhan Fauzi was elected unopposed as Indera Mahkota PKR chief.
