PETALING JAYA:
Abd Muhaimin Malek, Perikatan Nasional’s candidate for the Ayer Kuning by-election, has complied with the advice from the Perak mufti department to stop giving religious lectures and talks at mosques and suraus.

His campaign manager Misbahul Munir Masduki said Muhaimin had stopped all religious teaching and preaching activities.

“The candidate is fully following the advice issued by the mufti department,” Bernama reported Misbahul as saying in PN’s daily press conference in Tapah.

Earlier, Perak police recorded a statement from Muhaimin, who is also Tapah PAS chief, regarding his teaching credentials.

Perak police spokesman Zaharudin Rasip said a complainant had filed a report, accusing Muhaimin of violating regulations in his application for religious teaching accreditation.

“So far, no wrongdoing has been found regarding his credentials. He has submitted his certificates, which have been verified and confirmed by the Perak Islamic religious council (MAIPk).

“However, we will refer this case to MAIPk for further investigation. On the police side, no investigation is currently under way,” said Zaharudin.

The Ayer Kuning by-election on April 26 will see a three-cornered contest between Muhaimin, Barisan Nasional’s Yusri Bakir and Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s KS Bawani.
