
According to Berita Harian, Iskandar Puteri police obtained the remand orders from magistrate Nabilah Nizam earlier today.
One of the suspects, a 16-year-old boy, has been remanded for five days until Sunday, while a six-day remand was granted for the other suspect, aged 19.
Both suspects are being investigated under Section 7 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
It was previously reported that Johor police arrested a 16-year-old boy, who is alleged to have sourced photos from social media before using AI tools to edit the victims’ faces onto nude bodies. He then allegedly sold them online for RM2 each.
Johor police chief M Kumar had said the case came to light after one of the victims, an 18-year-old girl, discovered explicit images featuring her face circulating online.
The victim lodged a police report on April 3.
To date, a total of 22 reports have been lodged against the 16-year-old suspect.
