PETALING JAYA:
Sin Chew Daily has apologised for an illustration on the front page of today’s edition of its newspaper that wrongly depicted the Jalur Gemilang without the crescent moon.

In a statement today, the Chinese-language daily attributed the gaffe to a “technical mistake”.

It said the digital version of the illustration was immediately amended, and the amended version will be republished tomorrow in print.

“We feel regret and disappointment over the mistake, and on behalf of all Sin Chew’s staff we apologise to all Malaysians,” it said.

This comes as Chinese president Xi Jinping arrived in Malaysia at 6.30pm today for a three-day state visit at the invitation of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim.

The visit marks Xi’s second official trip to Malaysia in 12 years, after his last visit in 2013.
