State police chief Yahaya Othman said this would depend on the speed of the investigation, Sinar Harian reported.
He also said that Chow and Chang arrived at the Raub police headquarters at around 3.30pm yesterday and were detained later that evening. Their statements are still being recorded.
“We are completing the investigation and will refer the case to the deputy public prosecutor (DPP) for further instructions,” he was quoted as saying.
“If the investigation can be completed quickly, there will be no application for remand and they will be released.”
Media reports previously said that farmers had blocked access routes and displayed banners to express their dissatisfaction after enforcement personnel destroyed their decades-old crops.
The Pahang government denied violating a court order in felling around 200 Musang King durian trees during the enforcement operation in Sungai Klau, Raub, on April 8.
Yahaya said police had received 28 reports nationwide related to the enforcement action, mostly in support of the state government’s crackdown on illegal durian cultivation.
“Most of the reports were lodged by individuals, NGOs and farmers supporting the action taken against unlicensed farms,” he added.
