Altimet, Amirudin clinch PKR division chief posts in Selangor

The rapper-turned-politician edges out Bukit Antarabangsa rep Kamri Kamaruddin in a three-way race for PKR Ampang chief, while the Selangor menteri besar wins unchallenged in Gombak.

Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, better known as the rapper Altimet, and Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari were among several prominent names who clinched victories in Selangor’s PKR division elections yesterday.

Syed Ahmad retained the Ampang division chief post after a three-way fight against Selangor assembly deputy speaker Kamri Kamaruddin and Azrul Azwar Ahmad Tajudin.

The Lembah Jaya assemblyman secured 1,926 votes, while Kamri (who is also Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman) received 1,637 while Azrul trailed with 236.

The results were announced this morning by the party’s election committee.

Amirudin retained his position as Gombak division chief post unopposed, while his political secretary, Rahim Ahmad Kasdi, narrowly lost the deputy chief contest to Faizal Ismail 1,141 votes to 1,177.

Economy minister Rafizi Ramli also held on to his Pandan division chief role with 883 votes, beating Shahrom Musa, who received 444 votes.

Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung lost his position as division chief by a slim majority to Selangor executive councillor Hee Loy Sian, who secured 2,900 votes to Lee’s 2,684.

His running mate, Fahmi Ngah, also lost his bid for deputy chief, receiving 2,684 votes, while Ahmad Akhir Pawan Chik won with 2,819 votes.

In Shah Alam, incumbent Rodziah Ismail was defeated by Kota Anggerik assemblyman Najwan Halimi, who garnered 1,213 votes against her 899.

In Kapar, Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid was unseated in a four-way race, securing only 618 votes. Azizi Ayob won with 1,580 votes.

In Selayang, Rawang assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat lost to Kamarudin Hussain, who secured 2,041 votes to Chua’s 1,648. Wan Ibnul Bahar Wan Ismail trailed far behind with just 28 votes.
