Investigating officer Aiman Suhaimi said Yusoff was the sole individual seen approaching the vehicle, bearing registration number PMH 6391, prior to his arrest by a police raiding party.
“The fake pistols were found under the left front passenger’s seat of the car used by the accused,” he said when examined by deputy public prosecutor Sabri Othman.
Aiman said a check with the road transport department revealed that the car was registered in Yusoff’s name.
“No other member of the public had access to his car,” the 12th prosecution witness said during examination-in-chief.
Aiman said he was only entrusted to investigate the accused for possession of the imitation pistols.
Yusoff is charged with possessing the two fake pistols outside the Senada Condominium on Jalan Bukit Kiara at 9.25am on Sept 6 last year.
The fake pistols were alleged to have been wrapped in a black plastic bag.
The charge, under Section 36(1) of the Arms Act 1960, carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison, a fine of up to RM5,000, or both, upon conviction.
Yusoff is also accused of trafficking in 305gm of cannabis found in the vehicle when it was parked in front of the surau at 10.15am on Sept 6, 2024.
The drugs were also allegedly wrapped in a black plastic bag.
The charge, framed under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, provides for life imprisonment and 12 strokes of the rotan upon conviction.
Yusoff claims the imitation pistols and drugs were planted by the police to build a case against him.
Aiman, who recorded a statement from Yusoff two days after the arrest, said the accused claimed to have lost one of two keys to the car when shifting to the condominium in July last year.
“I did not ask him if he lodged a report over the missing key,” said Aiman. He said his probe revealed that Yusoff has owned the car since May last year.
Aiman said Yusoff had admitted to not repairing the car’s defective alarm security system, despite the issue arising two weeks prior to the police raid.
The witness said that Yusoff was staying together with a female companion at the time, but she had no access to his car and owned her own vehicle.
Aiman also said he did not investigate any threat to Yusoff despite reports lodged against two other persons.
“These reports were made in 2019 and had no relevance to my investigation,” he added.
The trial before Justice Jamil Hussin continues.
