PETALING JAYA:
National men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani have been eliminated from the Badminton Asia Championships in Ningbo, China.

The top seeds fell to China’s Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi 16-21, 21-18, 20-22 in a closely fought quarter-final match that lasted 67 minutes.

It was the first time that the Chinese duo have beaten the Malaysians in their three encounters so far.

At last year’s BAC, Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin reached the final but lost to China’s Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang.

Bo Yang-Liu Yi will meet Indonesian pair Leo Rolly Carnando-Bagas Maulana in the semi-final, after the latter defeated Taiwan’s Liu Kuang Heng-Yang Po Han in straight games.

In the other semi-final, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik will face a tough hurdle in Wei Keng-Wang Chang, China’s top pair and the defending BAC champions.

Earlier, Aaron-Wooi Yik defeated Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto in straight games to book their semi-final berth.
