The budget carrier said the cabin crew took appropriate measures following the technical issue, with oxygen masks automatically deployed as a precautionary safety measure.
“At no point was safety compromised,” it said in a statement, adding that the plane landed safely at KLIA Terminal 2 at 4.05pm.
“Following a comprehensive engineering assessment, the technical issue was identified and resolved, and the aircraft will be cleared for service today in full compliance with all safety regulations.”
AirAsia thanked guests for cooperating with the cabin crew throughout the flight and maintained that the passengers safety remains their utmost priority.
This was the second case of an AirAsia flight encountering issues mid-flight in the span of just over a week.
On March 27, AirAsia flight AK128 bound for Shenzhen, China, had to make an emergency landing at KLIA Terminal 2 after a damaged duct in one engine had caused the release of hot air. All 171 passengers and crew disembarked the aircraft safely.
