Motorcyclist dies after hitting pothole

The 19-year-old suffered severe injuries after being thrown onto the road.

A teenager died after a pothole caused him to lose control of the motorcycle he was riding and land on the road yesterday evening.

The pothole which he hit was on the Kuantan-Cherok Paloh road near Kampung Hijrah, in Kuantan, Pahang.

Hazeem Hazimi Shamsuddin, 19, who worked as a fisherman, suffered severe injuries after being thrown onto the road, Sinar Harian reported.

Kuantan police chief Wan Zahari Wan Busu said Hazeem was confirmed dead at 7.50pm while receiving treatment at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan.

Wan Mohd Zahari stated that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which relates to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Earlier, a video of the accident went viral on social media.
