KOTA BHARU:
Traffic on the federal road in Gua Musang, Kelantan, was congested for up to 20km today as people returned to the federal capital after the Aidilfitri holidays.

Gua Musang police chief Sik Choon Foo said the Gua Musang-Kuala Lipis border entry point has been congested since this morning and was still heavily jammed as of 6.30pm.

“The congestion stretches from Gua Musang town all the way to the Rantau Manis rest area, covering a distance of around 15km to 20km,” he told Bernama.

He added that the heavy traffic was expected to continue into Sunday night.

However, traffic on the Pasir Puteh-Terengganu route was not as congested at 6.30pm today, with vehicles moving slowly.

Pasir Puteh police chief Zaizul Rizal Zakaria said the volume of vehicles in both directions was also expected to remain high into Sunday night.

“Traffic flow on all roads in Pasir Puteh heading towards the Terengganu border is generally smooth, except for minor congestion in the Wakaf Lichong area.”
