Elderly man dies after crash with boy on motorbike

The senior citizen had exited a junction while the boy, 12, was riding on the main road when their motorcycles were involved in a collision.

PETALING JAYA:
A 65-year-old motorcyclist died early this morning after he was involved in a crash with a 12-year-old boy who was also on a motorbike in Johor Bahru.

Johor Bahru Utara police chief Balveer Singh said the incident occurred at Lorong Sentosa, near Kampung Sri Aman.

The victim had exited the junction while the boy was riding on the main road when they collided, resulting in the senior citizen falling and injuring his head.

“He died at 6.40am today while receiving treatment at Hospital Sultan Ismail in Johor Bahru,” Balveer said in a statement.

He said the boy suffered bruises on his left knee.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
