PETALING JAYA:
A foreign woman will be charged tomorrow in connection with a hit-and-run that claimed the life of an 18-year-old and injured another last month.

Timur Laut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the suspect would face two charges at the George Town magistrates’ court under the Road Transport Act 1987.

“The Penang deputy public prosecutor has directed that the driver be charged under Section 44(1)(a) for causing death while driving under the influence and Section 44(1A)(a) for causing injury under similar circumstances,” he said in a statement today.

It was previously reported that the incident occurred on Feb 19. The 18-year-old was walking home after a meal with two friends when they were struck by the foreign woman’s car.

The suspect then allegedly fled the scene.
