KUALA LUMPUR:
Awanbiru Technology Bhd (Awantec) said its unit, Prestariang SKIN Sdn Bhd (PSKIN), and the government have recorded a consent order regarding the unilateral termination of the national immigration control system (SKIN) project in 2019.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Awantec said the government will pay PSKIN RM201.45 million as a full and final settlement to the dispute.

“The payment will be made by the government in a lump sum payment within three months from today.

“The parties have further agreed to withdraw all pending appeals in the Court of Appeal and pending applications in the High Court against each other as part of the terms of the consent order,” it said.

PSKIN secured a 15-year concession from the government on Aug 9, 2017, to design, deliver, continuously maintain, and provide scheduled upgrades for a new and enhanced immigration and border control system for the immigration department.

On April 15, 2019, PSKIN filed a legal claim against the government, totalling RM732 million, for the unilateral termination of the project through expropriation.
