Number of flood victims drops in three states

Less than 6,000 remain at relief centres in Johor, Sarawak and Sabah.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The flood situation in Johor, Sarawak and Sabah improved this evening, with the number of evacuees in relief centres dropping to 5,808 this morning.

There were 4,597 evacuees in Johor at 4pm, housed in 29 relief centres in Johor Bahru, Pontian, Kluang, Batu Pahat, and Kota Tinggi.

The health clinics at Maju Jaya, Plentong, and Batu 4, Kota Tinggi, have resumed operations after they were affected by the recent floods, while the clinic in Kangkar Tebrau has temporarily moved its services to the Majidee clinic.

In Sarawak, the number of flood victims dropped slightly to 907 this evening, and the number is expected to decline further as the flood situation gradually improves in the affected areas of Sibu, Kanowit and Kapit.

The number of evacuees in Sabah dropped to 304 people this morning. Only two relief centres in Beaufort remained operational, while the centres in Keningau and Sipitang had been closed.
