BUKIT MERTAJAM: Takmir teachers in Penang are to get a special Aidilfitri token of appreciation of RM1,200 each, the state’s religious council announced.
Council president Mohamad Abdul Hamid said the payment will come from an allocation of RM261,200. He said takmir teachers play a key role in teaching about Islam in mosques, suraus and institutions such as drug rehabilitation centres and prisons.
“I hope this initiative will help ease their burden and motivate them to continue sharing Islamic knowledge within the community,” said Mohamad, who is also deputy chief minister, at the Penang takmir teachers’ iftar event here tonight.
