
This follows UM vice-chancellor Noor Azuan Abu Osman’s recent visit to China, where he held high-level discussions with Peking University president Gong Qihuang, Shandong governor Zhang Haibo and Hubei governor Shao Xinyu.
UM said the expansion plans have received backing from China’s education ministry, setting the stage for deeper collaboration in research, technology, and intellectual exchange.
“This momentum reflects Malaysia’s national commitment to elevating education standards and fostering global partnerships that will empower future generations,” it said in a statement today.
In a move to streamline student admissions, UM is partnering with China’s Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) to integrate AI and digital technology into the student selection process.
The CSCSE-UM Centre will facilitate the admission of Chinese students to Malaysia, ensuring a seamless and high-quality selection process.
“This collaboration underscores UM’s forward-thinking approach in embracing technology to enhance the international student experience,” the statement said.
UM said these groundbreaking initiatives reaffirm the university’s dedication to academic, technological, and socio-economic progress through bold global partnership.
