PETALING JAYA: A daycare group has called on the government to increase childcare tax relief from RM3,000 to RM5,000 in Budget 2026, to help ease the financial struggles of families.
In a statement today, the Malaysia Children Daycare Association also proposed extending tax relief to parents who send children aged seven to 18 to care centres registered under the social welfare department.
Its president, Simon Ng, said the existing tax relief was only applicable to parents who send children aged six and below to registered nurseries and kindergartens.
“We believe this move will encourage more parents to choose registered childcare centres, ensuring that children receive quality and safe care,” he said.
The association is also inviting parents to sign a petition here.
