PUTRAJAYA:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has started questioning former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob for a fifth day at its headquarters in Putrajaya.

Ismail, who is Bera MP, arrived at the MACC headquarters at 9.57am.

The anti-graft agency was previously reported to have said that it was questioning the former prime minister as a suspect in an investigation into four of his former senior officers.

Ismail declared his assets to MACC on Feb 10 and was first questioned by the agency on Feb 19.

He was also called in for questioning by MACC officials on Monday as well as last Thursday and Friday for around six hours on each day.

An MACC source previously said it could not confirm how many days Ismail would be questioned.

Ismail, who collapsed at home on Feb 22 and was hospitalised for blood pressure-related problems, could not attend two previously scheduled sessions with MACC on March 5 and 7 after being issued medical certificates by his doctor.

MACC is investigating the discovery of about RM170 million in cash and 16kg of gold bars worth millions of ringgit, all of which were seized in raids at the residences of the four officers and three other premises believed to be “safe houses”.
