PETALING JAYA: Two owners of a company and a clerk have been nabbed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for allegedly being involved with a syndicate that bribed civil servants to obtain citizenship for foreign applicants.
A source at the MACC said the trio would give RM5,000 to RM150,000 to government officers to expedite the processing of citizenship applications.
The suspects, in their 20s to 30s, are under remand until Thursday. They were arrested between 1am and 1.30pm yesterday after giving their statements at the MACC headquarters.
MACC’s senior director of intelligence, Idris Zaharuddin, confirmed the arrests.
