Elderly man killed after being impaled by forklift blade

PETALING JAYA:
A 70-year-old man was killed after he was impaled in the chest by a forklift blade at a factory in the Pending Industrial Area in Kuching, Sarawak, yesterday.

Kuching police chief Farhan Lee Abdullah said the man was operating the forklift when the incident happened at about 4pm, Harian Metro reported.

He said a team from the Bintawa police station was dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, officers found the victim, a Malaysian, pinned between the forklift and a stack of pallets,” he said.

Farhan said paramedics called to the scene confirmed the man had died on the spot.

He urged the public to refrain from speculating on the incident.

“Anyone with information on the incident can contact Bintawa police station chief Siti Mariam Hamid at 016-4661345 or the Bintawa police station at 082-335930,” he said.
